PATIENT SURVEY RESULTS
Thank you to everybody who recently took part in the patient’s survey.
The main concerns were regarding availability of appointments and doctors.
Appointments:
• Emergency slots should be available each day Emergency appointments and late evening surgery are already available, details of which are in the practice leaflet
• One night open surgery The practice prefers to have allocated appointments because in the past open surgeries tended to over-run and patients complained about having to wait a long time to be seen.
• Sometimes too long waiting to go in when appointments are made. Unfortunately we are unable to control the length of a consultation However if a patient feels they need a longer appointment time, they should inform the receptionist of this at the time of booking the appointment.
• Should be open longer one evening for people who find it difficult to get there in the day. Emergency appointments and late evening surgery are already available, details of which are in the practice leaflet.
Availability of doctors:
• Make particular GPs more accessible • Spend a bit more time and listen to the patient more • Where possible to see same GP for existing problem, continuity of care • Would like to see my own GP each time and not have to wait a week+ • More accessibility to doctors, easier to get appointments • More female doctors
Drs George and Margaret Campbell intend to stop their out of practice work and therefore will be available more in surgery. Dr Raj Patel has joined us and he will be in surgery 9 sessions per week. Dr Rito Ray has also joined. This will give us more doctor’s sessions when patients can be seen. In addition, now that we have 2 practice nurses, they will be carrying out more specialised clinics, eg for diabetes and heart failure, which again should allow more clinic appointments. Female Doctors. Dr Jane Ince has already joined the Practice and is available by Appointment. Dr Madhuri Gupta will be starting in April and will also be available by Appointment. Dr Margaret Campbell is still consulting by Appointment. Let one of the Receptionists know if you need to see her. She will then arrange a Clinic.
